Lisa Jey Davis was born and raised in the rugged, small southwestern town of Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the base of the beautiful Sandia Mountains. She was the number-ten daughter of eleven children of an Italian immigrant mother and a father of Western European descent, from Dallas Texas. After graduation from high school, LJ (as she became known by friends and colleagues) attended the University of New Mexico, majoring in (among other things) journalism and communications.
During her freshman year of college, duties of motherhood and the allure of business ownership drew LJ away from her schooling. Her first business, DATASAVERS, later known as AVISO Information Management Services, met a dire need in the late 1980s for computer services, desktop publishing, and marketing within her small southwestern community. LJ seized this opportunity as a small business owner to capitalize on her now flourishing talents in marketing and public relations.
LJ’s creative instincts and knack for communicating effectively led to writing for regional publications such as Albuquerque Monthly Magazine, television news segments, radio programs, and later for televised entertainment industry events. She became involved in several community and media organizations, and her business was nominated for artistic awards in direct marketing campaigns for writing and design.
Lisa Jey served as Vice President of Communications for the Coalition for Responsible Government, a grassroots organization in New Mexico in the mid to late 1990s. Additionally, she acted as lobbyist for select issues important to the organization. A dynamic and gifted communicator, Lisa Jey packs her message with deep insights, contemporary relevance, and humorous, real-life anecdotes, whether speaking to a group of colleagues, congressmen at the capital building, or to thousands at a women’s conference.
An extreme wanderlust and an adventurous spirit took LJ on a journey into the all-too-unpredictable world of television production. After interning as a production assistant for local news (operating teleprompter, camera, and serving as sometime news desk assistant), LJ went on to associate produce the news part-time at a local network news station in Albuquerque. Careers in television were few and far between in this little corner of the southwest, so LJ packed it up and headed to Los Angeles, where she became involved in the exciting, yet just-as-unpredictable world of music television production. Her niche became management of talent, but after a few years LJ was less than inspired creatively, and she soon found herself working more often in marketing and copywriting than in television production.
For the past two decades, among other creative pursuits, Lisa Jey has served as marketing and public relations consultant to a varied clientele, including such industries as Internet, technology, professional services, and publishing.
Although skilled in television production, LJ chose to stick with what she did best—marketing, consulting, and writing. This opened up the possibility of working anywhere USA. THE anywhere for LJ soon became Aspen, Colorado, where she now resides with her eleven-year-old son and her partner, Tom Perkins. She still frequents Los Angeles, working on various projects, speaking, and lending her hand at the occasional television project. Content to stay the course, knowing the adventures will only continue in Aspen, she continues to relish the journey, looking for opportunities to inspire, be inspired, and make her mark wherever possible.
